From Headbands to Legwear
Rebecca Michaels grew up in a suburb of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1998. She attended college at Penn State University and graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering. Following 4 years of summering in Ocean City, Maryland, Rebecca moved permanently to Ocean City, Maryland and became employed as a Civil Engineer.

While vacationing in Miami, Rebecca - an avid athlete and runner - wanted to wear her hair up, but couldn’t find a black headband to suit her style anywhere! To solve the problem, she returned to Maryland and sewed several headbands for herself. When wearing her design, Rebecca was stopped repeatedly by people who inquired as to where they could purchase a headband just like hers. Rebecca then proceeded to sew more headbands for herself and for her friends. "All of my friends just loved them and wanted more for themselves and for their other friends; I began to be contacted by people I didn’t even know, asking if they could purchase them".

"Rebecca’s vision is to create a lifestyle brand that appeals to all ages and for all occasions."
Rebecca’s love of the color purple led to the naming of her headband line "Violet Love" and she created her first line of Signature Couture headbands during her off hours ’ civil engineer by day, fashion designer by night and weekend. Michaels began by placing her line in stores in Salisbury and Ocean City, Maryland and was delighted when the headbands sold-out in only one week. On the heels of this success, she immediately sold her line along the east coast, branching out further and further with each passing day. Michaels then hired an American manufacturer to keep up with the huge demand. Needing more time to devote to her newly launched business, Michaels left her engineering job in the fall of 2006 to follow her dreams and hasn’t looked back since.

Rebecca prides herself on her unique fabrics, prints, and construction design, and will make a headband believer out of anyone. From short to long, curly to stick straight, Rebecca will "wow" you with how great you will look and feel in Violet Love. Known as the "No Headache Headband" by Health magazine and The Today Show, Violet Love is an accessory that you will WANT to wear all day.

Rebecca reinvented Violet Love again in the beginning of 2008 with the launch of her ECO by VL trademarked Organic headband line, made of bamboo blended fabrics. In addition to the ECO by VL line, she also launched her SHE by VL trademark, which encompasses her performance line of headbands. SHE by VL headbands are made of high-count wicking fabric, and are truly a performance enhancing agent! Together with her Signature Couture line which is already a best seller, there is a headband in her collection to suit everyone.

Feeling the need to branch out with something even more exciting, Rebecca launched the Legwear division of Violet Love in May of 2008. Violet Love brand of printed hosiery to match the headband prints became an overnight success. From the first introduction, Violet Love was picked up by such stores as Fred Segal, Diane’s Beachwear, and other high profile doors. The legwear and headwear combination is the perfect treatment for your top and bottom half.

From concept to sales to service, Michaels is "hands-on" through every facet of the operation. She oversees the Violet Love headquarters and warehouse, based in Ocean City, Maryland as well as her satellite Customer Service office in Chantilly, Virginia. Rebecca represents her brand at tradeshows to maintain her personal connection with her clients, and travels around the world for new inspiration and ideas.

Rebecca’s vision is to create a lifestyle brand that appeals to all ages and for all occasions. Violet Love is a fresh and funky line that allows an inner diva to let loose through her accessories. What’s next for the brand? You can be sure if you see Rebecca, it’s that crazy piece that she’s wearing and you’re dying to ask her "Where’d you get that??"
