SAYING “THANK YOU” WITH A SHORT STORY AND A SALE….
Today is Veterans Day. To some it’s just another day that you get off work or school, but to many it’s a very important day of remembrance. I have to admit that too often in years past I hadn’t put much thought into a day like today. I, like many, don’t like thinking about war and violence. I can’t even bear to be in the room when a suspenseful movie is on let alone imagine what is ACTUALLY happening overseas every single day. It’s easier to think that if it’s not happening in my front yard, I don’t have to think about it actually happening…until a recent plane ride where it hit me like a ton of bricks….
I was on my way home from a trade show in Florida. The flight left at 7am and needless to say, all I wanted to do was sleep. It’s a long flight back to Cali. Toward the second leg of the flight the pilot came on and made an announcement: “Ladies and gentleman, this is your pilot. I want to make you all aware that when the plane lands we will need everyone to stay seated. We have a fallen soldier on the plane and his chaperone is seated in the back of the plane. He is joined by the mother and wife of the fallen soldier. Please stay seated and let them leave first out of respect and honor.” Silence, silence….annnnnd BAM, it hit me. Not only have these people behind me lost a member of their family but over 4,000 other families have lost someone too. And thousands more have been seriously injured. Anger. Frustration. Anger. I looked to the woman next to me whose husband is in the Navy and expressed my anger in the situation. She said to me “You know, it’s funny, you’d think they would be angry. But most aren’t…they are PROUD. Proud that their son, daughter, husband, wife had the courage to fight for what they believe in and risk death for their country and for the safety of people like you and I.”
I put my head down, hiding a few tears, and let it all soak in. I guess, after all, it really is about Pride. While someone like me can’t bear to watch a horror movie, there are Americans who live it everyday. They left their family, friends and loved ones knowing that there is a chance they wont come back. And many do this more than once. I forced myself to think about this, what they go thru and how thankful I am for their dedication.
Thank you Veterans. Thank you soldiers. Words can not express what it means to know that you have the courage to do what so many others, me, could never do. Happy Veterans Day to all of you.

VIOLET LOVE BRAND AMBASSADORS WANTED!!
This week we are LOOKING to our faithful VLovers to fill some seriously big shoes. We are looking to hire 5 Brand Ambassadors across the US! Do you have what it takes? Can you live, eat and breathe Violet Love like we do? Are you a “Social Sally”, a “Fitness Franny”, a “Community Cathy” or better yet a “Fashionista Farah”…?????
As Violet Love grows and becomes increasingly busy we realize that we can’t be in all the places we would like, spreading the good word of how fabulous our prints, fabrics, clothes and headbands truly are. We need YOU out there slingin’ headbands at the gym, fashion runway events, getting VL involved in local community and charity events – All while scoring yourself some seriously sweet digs at a major discount and making some dough!

We will narrow down the entries and then move into the application and interview process.

While this position holds a lot of perks, it is a serious job and we want to make sure that we choose the right women. Our current brand ambassadors consist of professional women involved in their local community and are very well respected amongst their peers. We will be very generous with your compensation, allow you mass amounts of creativity to develop YOUR UNIQUE position with VL and we expect hard work and dedication in return. LOOK OF THE WEEK – I HAVE A CONFESSION

I HAVE A CONFESSION….
Up until yesterday, I had never taken a yoga class, done a yoga move, taken the time to sit, breathe and think about becoming one with the earth. I didn’t think I could slow down AND get a workout at the same time. I didn’t understand what all the hype was about “opening up” spaces in my body. But now, I get it. I get why people love yoga, I get the “yoga high” and I get why so many people have listened to me complain about stress and tell me that I need to do yoga. I GET IT!
So why is this such a confession? Well, ummmm, I sell lounge/yoga clothing for a living!!!! Now don’t get me wrong, I have tested all of our fitness apparel in the gym and on the streets (the best gym is one without walls) and I love it all and really DO wear it and love it, especially our headbands. But I needed to understand what our yoga customers want and need while they are perfecting their craft. While it will take a few more times and a few more outfit changes (the fun part!) here are a few things I learned and wanted to share with you VLovers and yogis…
My instructor: I invited my beautiful friend Sara to my house, we took our mats and went to my back yard where the sun was perfectly shinning on us for about an hour of yoga. Love you Sara, and thank you:)

So there you have it, my first yoga experience. The verdict on the clothes – for me, less is better here. While loose fitting clothing would have been nice, I think it would get caught up in all the action. I love that Sara took one of our scarves and made it a top, super stylish and practical. IT’S LIKE CHRISTMAS MORNING….
Lucky me, I get to experience the Christmas morning giddies several times a year! NEW HEADBANDS arrive and I can’t wait to rip the plastic off those bad boys and get em on my head! It’s such a fun experience, no matter how many times we’ve done it before, to behold 24 new beauties and begin to choose our favorites. But true to my strange and “creative’ fashion, I have a little ritual that I must first complete before the headbands are “christened”, if you will…
FIRST….I decorate my house with them…
SECOND…I let Lulu choose her favorite…
….and then she had to put it on of course!!
THIRD…I load my emergency “Oh no that woman is NOT driving around in that ugly headband, Let me roll down my window and sling shot a REAL headband to her” car stash…
FOURTH…I pick my favorites…
FIFTH…I put them all on my head and make a wish that all the world falls in VLove this season;)

People often ask me if I have an assistant. The answer is yes, her name is Lulu. Lulu can’t type, she can’t make phone calls and she sleeps on the job nearly every day! But there is one thing Lulu does well, she rocks the #%*& out of Violet Love Headbands…Lulu is my pet Boston Terrier and she inspired this weeks LOOK OF THE WEEK PET PHOTO CONTEST!!!!!
This week we are calling on all pet obsessed VLovers! The contest is simple and just calls for some creativity, your pet to sit still for 10 seconds and a camera!
