Something to Ride About

One of my highlights this month was meeting Creator of the Women on Bikes SoCal initiative, mover & shaker, writer & fashionista – Melissa Balmer. Not only did Melissa introduce me to the terms, “Car-Free”, and “Car-Lite” (referring to living a life that’s either completely or partially abandoned using an automobile), but she successfully inspired me to move forward with plans to ditch my four gas-dependent wheels for two green ones – at least when running around-town errands or staying within a few miles from home.

While sipping my favorite Earl Grey Lavender tea at the Green House, our mutual favorite “coffee shop-office”, Melissa talked about future plans for Women On Bikes, her past experience in Fashion, and time spent in Italy during her college days. “Ou! Parla l’italiano”, I asked in excitement. “Si, parlo l’italiano…” she began speaking fluently, causing my face to turn red and admit I’d forgotten most of the Italian I picked up during my brief time abroad. Despite not being able to converse in a Romance language, I was fascinated by everything Melissa continued to talk about. Photographing powerful women in support of Women On Bikes, such as Vice Mayor of Long Beach, Suja Lowenthal, has helped bring more awareness to the initiative. But there’s much more in store for Women On Bikes SoCal.

Cycle Chic: Past, Present, & Future

As some of you know, Rebecca Michaels, much like Women on Bikes SoCal, is just getting started….so stayed tuned for the comfort you crave and the style you can’t compromise. It’s what you’ve been waiting for and we’re all about – don’t miss out!

Welcome

Dear Friends,

Welcome to my blog and new Brand, Rebecca Michaels. As many of you know, I first began my career in Fashion six years ago designing headbands under the brand Violet Love. My goal was to create a unique affordable headband in a quality fabric that could be worn wide or narrow.  Hundreds of designs later, I still receive letters every day expressing gratitude for Violet Love Headbands – and I am just as thankful. I truly could not have come this far in such a short amount of time if it was not for your loyalty and support throughout the years – thank you for everything.

In the last six years I’ve grown and learned so much about the Fashion Industry, and I’m bringing that knowledge to my new brand of women’s apparel, Rebecca Michaels. Just like my headbands, this apparel will be made in comfortable, quality fabrics, and have a unique style that will set it apart from what’s already out there. As the Rebecca Michaels Brand grows, I vow to you that we will continue to provide you with excellent customer service and products. I’m so excited for what’s in our future and I hope you are too.

Stayed tuned….there’s so much more in store…..and it’s coming – SOON!

XO,

Rebecca
