Violet Love Brands, Inc. (commonly called Violet Love or VL for short) Founder & CEO, Rebecca Michaels, is not your typical LA fashion designer and it’s hard to believe that this young and inspiring woman was not born with a Violet Love Headband on her head! Rebecca is known best for her unique signature prints and her lightweight, laid-back fabrics that make up her apparel and loungewear line and how can we forget – HEADBANDS!

Formerly from the East coast, Rebecca is a graduate from Penn State University with a degree in Environmental Engineering. Following graduation, she resided in Ocean City, MD and began her post-college career in the Civil Engineering field – specializing in land development. Within 4 years of her career, Rebecca still felt unfulfilled and knew there was SOMETHING else out there for her that would let her really use her creative spirit to the fullest.

It was the spring of 2006 when Rebecca envisioned this perfect headband she longed to wear… one that could be worn wide, narrow, in some sort of amazing fabric, and at a price point she could afford. She visited a handful of stores and found NOTHING. It was then that she decided to just make her own and the rest is history! Little did she know that the engineer in her would take those detailed skills and create the PERFECT headband – and that this ONE headband would become the core of her very own LA based fashion company and would delight millions of women across the world daily.

Violet Love, named for Rebecca’s love of her favorite color began from those headbands she created that year. In the fall of 2006, Rebecca was announced winner of the LAUNCHED at SURF EXPO contest, where the top 10 hottest new products are selected for the season. She then resigned from engineering and gave it her all without ever looking back.

Within 3 years of beginning this journey, Rebecca made another bold move to relocate herself and the company to Los Angeles. And now in 2011, it’s apparent she made exactly the right move. Violet Love slowly grew and added additional product categories such as printed hosiery, leggings, scarves, and now for this Spring has evolved into a complete apparel line, full of tanks, dresses, intimates, loungewear, leggings, and of course a NEW COLLECTION of HEADBANDS to facilitate that VLove addiction we know so many of you have.

Rebecca boasts such accolades as being featured on THE TODAY SHOW twice for her famous “NO HEADACHE – NO SLIP” headbands, as well as write ups in Heath Magazine, Southern Living, Women’s Surf Style Magazine, just to name a few. Rebecca is also very passionate about giving back, and is one of the sponsors of the Young Survivors Coalition for young women surviving breast cancer.

Rebecca is a true role model for all ages and a woman who is never afraid of change or re-invention. One thing we can be sure of is that Rebecca will always keep us on the cutting edge of anything comfortable and unique and if you blink too long, you just might miss out on what she’s up to next.
